During my first campaign, I committed to removing barriers to inclusion for families, investing in Before and After programs, improving our infrastructure, and supporting active transport.
Over the past four years, our Board proudly accomplished the following:
- A community responsive and globally recognized strategic plan
- Launched two reviews of our programming in partnership with University of Winnipeg
- Increased professional development opportunities for EAs
- Expansion of Before and After school programs
- Elimination of lunch fees for families
- The establishment of new community committees (Newcomer, Equity, Indigenous, Inclusive Education, Environmental Education)
- Renovations at Gordon Bell High School
- Finalized plans for Ecole Secondaire Kelvin High school gymnasium and track
- Supported the bicycle bus initiative at Earl Grey School
Looking ahead in 2026, my goals are:
For our Schools
1. Protect what matters for students – Our teacher’s work place is our children’s learning environment.
2. Continue to work on equity in school programming like full day kindergarten and library technicians
3. Tackling barriers – continuing to address absenteeism, smaller class sizes and number of clinicians in schools
For our Community
1. Supporting working families – growing after school programming partnerships and more child care centres
2. Green Infrastructure – Renovating our aging schools, making them more sustainable and energy efficient, while addressing concerns about classroom temperatures.
3. Local Voice – addressing the unique needs of schools by continuing our work with committees like Inclusion, Equity and Environmental Advisory
